Potassium Sorbate 50%

Please Note: This product is intended for use with dairy calves only. It is not to be used in products meant for human consumption.

For use as a liquid preservative in milk and colostrum that will be fed to dairy calves only. Throughly mix into the recommended volume to maximize effectiveness. For best results, always pasteurize first, then add Potassium Sorbate and Refrigerate!

5 gallons (19 liters) of Potassium Sorbate in a sturdy container. Includes dispensing spigot.

Mixing Instructions:

Milk/Colostrum                      Potassium Sorbate

1/2 Gal. (2 qts)                      .15oz / 5 ml.

1 Gal.                                      .3 oz / 10 ml.

5 Gal.                                      1.5oz / 50 ml.

10 Gal.                                    3.2 oz. / 100 ml.

100 Gal.                                 32 oz / 1 liter

Potassium Sorbate can be added to milk or colostrum that is already pasteurized and it will help to prevent the growth of any remaining bacteria in the product. It must be kept at room temperature, away from sunlight and in a dry place. Our Potassium Sorbate has an expected shelf life of 6 months.

*CAUTION – Potassium Sorbate is only intended to inhibit bacteria growth in colostrum and milk – it will not kill existing bacteria. Killing bacteria requires pasteurization, which we strongly recommend.

• DO NOT add prior to pasteurization as thickening may occur.
• Refrigerate if possible: Potassium Sorbate plus refrigeration preserves colostrum/milk better than Potassium Sorbate or refrigeration alone. For best results, pasteurize first, then add Potassium Sorbate and Refrigerate.
